:: ✠ Articles

I'll think of a better title for this section later, but for now it stays as 'articles.' These are news bits, interviews, etc that I find randomly on the internet that I think interesting--and also happen to have some Hans mentions!

**Some of these sites may contain material a little too mature for even the mature cyber-reader. Proceed with caution and remember, you can always just click that little X at the corner (desktop) or swipe the window away (mobile) if something isn't to your liking!**

✠ Tripwire Talks To Chris Weston Part One

October 1, 2022 by Paul N Neal

Interview Part One | Archived on Wayback Machine

Paul: Could you describe how you made your choice to work for American Publishers? Your Fantastic Four First Family with Joe Casey springs immediately to mind.

Chris: Fantastic Four: First Family followed a much longer run over at Vertigo/DC Comics where I drew Swamp Thing, The Filth, The Invisibles, Time Breakers, Garth Ennis’ War Stories, The Authority, Enemy Ace, Time Breakers and Lucifer. It was quite an extended run, and I was astonishingly prolific by my usual standards.

Chris: I came to DC Comics as part of a “bumper package deal” with Mark Millar & Grant Morrison. I guess I was part of their gang when they made the jump to US-based comics. Mark and I had just revamped 2000 AD’s Rogue Trooper following our work on Canon Fodder, but he was already contemplating a step across the pond to work at The Big Two.

[...]

Chris: By the early 2000s, I had turned out an incredible number of pages under an extremely stressful series of deadlines. But somewhere along the way I was losing pride in the finished results of my work. I think it was just a classic case of burn out but it took me a long time to diagnose that in myself. Joe Casey offered me the job as artist on his Fantastic Four: First Familyseries over at Marvel and I made the leap. It was an origin tale, designed to cash in on the release of an all-new Fantastic Four movie.

✠ Tripwire Talks To Chris Weston Part Two

Interview Part Two | Archived on Wayback Machine

This second part has nothing relating to Hans, but I leave it because a) it's part two, c'mon, and b) if you're like me, and are interested in juicy comics gossip AND in Weston's film work + The Twelve, it's worth a read.
